Kathy Leitgeb
District 2
CGFR Board Member since ____
Kathy was born and raised in Manhattan, five blocks south of the Empire State Building. She came to Alaska on a whim in 1970, figuring she’d be here a couple of years, but forty one years later, she’s still here. In 1974, Kathy graduated from UAF and was hired as an archeologist during the construction of the pipeline. In 1983, between digs, she joined Chena Goldstream as a volunteer and eventually became a lead medic. She was with the department a dozen or more years when she took a time intensive job that required her to take a break from volunteering. A few years later, a volunteer contacted Kathy and asked if she was interested in being on the Board of Directors. Excited to have a chance to serve with CGFR again, she agreed and was elected to the Board. She is very happy to once again be involved with CGFR as it had been a big part of her life and she missed all the wonderful people she had worked beside for so many years.
