Captain Chris Hunger comes to us from the foothills of the Cascade mountain range just east of Portland, Oregon. He was born and raised in the Sandy area. He spent four years as an explorer for the Sandy Rural Fire District. After that he went on to be a volunteer firefighter with Hoodland Rural Fire District. He has progressed through the ranks from firefighter up to senior firefighter, an officer in training position. He was actively involved in vehicle maintenance, SCBA maintenance and training. He spent seven years with Hoodland Fire, the last two years running as the scene officer for many of the calls.

He brings with him certifications in driver/operator courses, wildland certifications, Firefighter I and II and Fire Instructor I. He is well versed in auto extrication having been on one of the worst stretches of highway in Oregon. His response area varied in elevation from about 500 feet to 6500 feet above sea level. Neighborhoods in the area were everything from low income houses and shacks to multimillion dollar homes to Timberline Lodge, a national monument.
